We are looking for a team member that is happy to work as part of our small team, but has the capability of working on their own when required, this may involve working towards tight deadlines as well as working under pressure in a logical manner especially during Race support situations. We are looking for somebody that has good communications skills and can deal with customers needs, building up a working relationship with our customers and race teams. A keen interest in motorsports would be of great advantage.

Race Communications engineer                 VACANCY FILLED

 Duties 

Bench repair of PMR hand held and mobile radios. To component level when viable.  Good soldering rework techniques, removal and replacement of SMT and discrete components. Programming of Radio equipment so a reasonable IT knowledge is essential.

 Alignment of radios and filters using a communications service monitor.   Assembly of race radio systems including complete system tests. Assembly of individual race communications components when needed.

We assemble or modify some components of our bespoke systems so good soldering techniques and some mechanical ability is needed. 

UK Race support involving visits to race circuits either on week days or sometimes weekends. Programming and maintaining customer equipment, fault diagnosis and replacement or repair of equipment. Ability to drive a van and our 7.5 Metre Motor home will be required.

 Occasional European Race support involving 2 to 5 days away. Possibly up to a week for the Le mans 24 hour race.

 Ability to deal with travel and problems that arise when away on own initiative.

Assistance in developing new products from concept through development, prototyping and test.

On site service of PMR customers including occasional installation work.We still have a number of existing radio customers that will require service from time to time. 

Ability to deal with customers requirements and dealing with sales if needed, normally when carrying out race support.

 Involvement in all aspects of running a small workshop, including monitoring of stock, ordering parts and general workshop duties.

Basic Package

 £17 to £22,000 per year, depending on ability.

 Staff bonus scheme offering up to £150 per month bonus based on company monthly turn over. (Staff can expect to achieve bonus payments during 6 to 8 months a year but this cannot be guaranteed.)

Working away allowance. 

When working abroad on Race Support we pay £100 per day + 1 day in lieu per Saturday and Sunday worked. 

4 weeks holiday per year plus the normal bank holidays.
